Serve as the organization’s senior executive representative in Israel, advancing strategic priorities, strengthening presence and partnerships in Israeli government, nonprofit and philanthropic sectors, and serving as liaison to major Israeli and international entities such as WZO, JAFI, KKL and others; lead strategic vision in the sphere of Israel engagement for North American Jewish communities, including strategic consulting, oversight of Israel engagement fellowship, leadership and educational initiatives, both in Israel and in North American communities; cultivate partnerships with North American Jewish leadership; serve as a thought leader through speaking engagements and public appearances; lead and supervise a professional team in Israel, while overseeing all elements of Israeli NGO management including all Israeli government requirements.

This senior role is responsible for ensuring that the investments made by the Foundation are both impactful and professional, while serving as the primary gatekeeper of the Foundation’s grants mission, through maintaining mission integrity, data driven decision making, and offering insight and guidance to Foundation leadership on new needs and opportunities; at the same time, this role focuses on leading and inspiring a multidisciplinary team of grant managers, overseeing the grant lifecycle, ensuring quality control and professional development of the team, while maintaining relationships with grantees and stakeholders, serving as a guide, negotiator and problem solver in complex educational, political or financial situations with international grantees, and creating opportunities for professional enrichment of grantee leadership alongside professional educational mentoring and guidance.

Strategy, management and responsibility for all fundraising activities, utilizing a broad potential donor base in the United States and Israel; direct fundraising through personal solicitations and other avenues, working in tandem with the Executive Director and senior staff; position requires overseas travel.

Serve as the central promoter, contact, guide and coach for Israeli NGO fundraising teams to incorporate legacy giving as an integral part of their fundraising vision and strategy; this includes training and empowering partner NGOs in Israel to incorporate legacy giving; recruiting new NGOs to the program through promotional strategies, webinars, and delivering impactful presentations; managing partner NGO relationships, nurturing strong connections with development directors and CEOs; overseeing partner NGOs timelines and deliverable outcomes; serve as a professional resource to partner NGOs, providing clear and practical guidance to address challenges; work closely with the Israel based team to improve and expand program offerings.

The VP of Development will formulate and implement a comprehensive development strategy, with the support and involvement of the institution’s senior leadership; managing and overseeing a professional development team, s/he will expand awareness and support for the institution, soliciting and stewarding major donors, crafting tailored dedication, naming and support opportunities, and utilizing traditional and creative avenues for increasing donor investment and engagement; this position requires regular travel overseas.

Review grant applications and proposals from French and Spanish speaking countries; manage the grant application process from start to finish, including tracking deadlines, reviewing budgets, and coordinating with internal teams; evaluate grantee reports for compliance and impact assessment; conduct site visits to grantees overseas; ongoing communication and relationship with grantees to guide, assist and ensure alignment with the Foundation’s vision and goals.
